Name: Merrow Heir (NPC)
Affiliation: Disciple of Kyurem, Battle Company
Gender: Male
Age: 27
Personality: Merrow is quiet and reserved most of the time, staying out of group discussions as much as possible. He is adept at analyzing other people and manipulating them from afar, usually through interfaces such as email and the Holo Caster. He almost never raises his voice, but remains cool and serious and allows others to speak their part before calmly rebuffing them.
Appearance: Merrow is short - only 5'4" tall - and skinny with flaming red hair that overflows messily from his head. He has pale blue eyes naturally, but wears contacts that darken them to almost a navy blue color. He usually wears a dark blue suit to match his hair and eyes, preferring to stay in formal work attire even when he isn't at his job at the Battle Company. He usually has slight circles under his eyes, that he wears as a badge of honor to show how dedicated he is to the success of his company and, in the company of his followers, his vision for the future. In actuality, the circles are done carefully with makeup each morning as he has inherited the incredible stamina of a secretary he devoured several years ago.
History: Merrow grew up as the youngest of six siblings in a struggling family in Nimbasa City. His parents both worked low-wage jobs in the entertainment industry and resources were so tight that often there wasn't even enough food to go around the household. The older siblings gained favor with his parents by joining them in the workforce and his older sister Jessica, the fifth-born, managed to make a name for herself as a pokemon trainer and became the pride and joy of his family. While no words were spoken, Merrow quickly realized that his family would objectively be better off if he just plain hadn't been born. He did reasonably well in school but exhibited none of the qualities that would make him a good athlete for the popular sporting venues. His quiet demeanor and inability to tame his wild hair made him ill-suited for entertainment and service like the rest of his family, and he was at best a mediocre pokemon trainer. At age 18, since he was still unable to find a job to help support his family, they politely requested that he take the one pokemon he had managed to capture, a Solosis he had named Soul, and leave on an adventure like he probably should have done at age 10. Bitter and resentful, the teenager left his parents' house and eventually, after much moping and raging, traveled towards Castelia City.
On his first night on the road, he had a strange dream. Visions of pokemon he had never seen and scarcely even heard of, pokemon thought mythical at best, floated around his head and as he looked at each one he heard a different voice promising him powers and wooing him towards some cause. One of them stood out more than the others. Come to me, my son, and I will grant you the power to seize control of the entire world. No longer will you be overlooked, instead you will have all the riches you desire, the adoration of everyone, and the power to take whatever you wish. I see in your heart jealousy at the way you have been wronged and deprived of the things you desire. Follow me and assert your worth over the universe.
Merrow had accepted that offer - how could he refuse the chance to show his parents that they had misjudged him, to rub in their faces just how wrong they had been about him? When he woke up the next day, he had almost reached Castelia City when a pokemon trainer challenged him. The younger boy had three pokemon, all of which were stronger than Soul, and laughed mockingly as he strode away with half of Merrow's pitiful savings after the battle. A rage seized him and he tackled the child, counting on his post-pubescent strength to help him while some part of his mind screamed for him to stop. That part of his mind, he forcefully silenced and as he fell on top of the young boy, he felt the strangest feeling of fullness. Blinking, he realized that the boy was staring at him with pure terror as his body engulfed the boy's slowly. The kid tried to reach for his pokeballs to call upon his own pokemon for help, but Merrow simply grabbed his arm and kept going, rolling off into the tall grass and covering the young teen's mouth so that he couldn't scream. As he did so, the child started to grow cold and slow down, and eventually stopped fighting back as Merrow finished devouring him. The assimilation process took about 10 minutes. After that, all that was left were three pokeballs and a backpack with a nice chunk of change and a few items in it. Feeling tired and strangely elated, Merrow grabbed them and then raised his eyebrows as he noticed the three badges pinned to the opening flap of the backpack. Well. I guess I'm a pokemon trainer now. Merrow made his way to Castelia and treated himself by booking a cheap hotel room, something his family had never been able to afford before. He wanted to enjoy it, but somehow or another he was just so tired that he passed out immediately...and slept for a week. When he woke up, he felt strangely competent...suddenly he knew which pokemon were super effective to each other, which were more powerful, all of the tricks about raising pokemon to specialize in one stat over the other. Laughing, he realized that while he might not have any of the memories or experiences of the young boy he'd eaten, he had received the child's aptitude for training pokemon, and it was gloriously amazing.
Merrow figured he might as well see what pokemon he had inherited from his fortuitous encounter. He was pleasantly surprised to note that the pokeballs contained a Pignite, a Blitzle, and an Aerodactyl, although how the kid obtained an Aerodactyl in the first place was beyond him. They were a strong team and would help Soul grow quickly, even if they only followed his orders reluctantly and when he flashed his new badges at them. He paid the hotel a little extra for allowing him to stay 6 days longer than intended and then went to go challenge some trainers for pocket money. Eventually, he found his way to the Battle Company and impressed them enough with his training skills to earn a job there. He slowly worked his way up from grunt to executive, occasionally choosing new victims to devour when he noticed someone who had some sort of special talent that he didn't - a secretary who seemed to be able to function easily on 4 hours' sleep per night, one of the company psychologists who had a knack for reading people, the accountant who was discovered to have been embezzling slowly for 10 years and only just now got caught. He also collects the talents of other disciples that he sees, but he recognizes that their abilities come from the powers of their god and thus devouring them will not allow him to gain their powers. Instead, he wins their trust and devotion and coaxes them to use their powers in a way that benefits him.

Name: Jailene "Jai" Silver
Affiliation: Jirachi, Merrow Heir
Gender: Female
Age: 14
Personality: Jailene is a sweet girl who usually is overflowing with compassion and empathy, giving out free hugs to anyone available and tries to cheer people up with her Audino and Emolga. After she became a disciple of Jirachi she started a little free service to passers by in Nimbasa City where she would listen to their troubles and give them advice. However, once she had been picked up by Merrow she became increasingly depressed, often feeling useless and helpless in the face of his demands although she tries really hard to please him.
Appearance: Jailene has long, blonde hair that she wears down or half-down and tends to like wearing flowing dresses and shirts in yellow, grey, light blue, and light green. She has a circlet of constantly blooming flowers that she received from a Roserade as thanks for helping its trainer. Her eyes are a brilliant green color and she's an inch taller than Merrow, much to his chagrin since she is still growing and he passed puberty a long time ago.
History: Jailene grew up in a wealthy family and rarely saw her parents, only getting their attention when she was extremely successful. She was bright and did well in school, and her mother proudly framed her elementary school diploma. Other than that, she grew close to her nanny Elise. Her nanny gave her her first pokemon, Audino, when she was 7 years old and then an Emolga when she turned 10 as a going-away present on her pokemon journey. However, Jailene quickly became sidetracked since she didn't like the pain and fighting involved in a pokemon battle even if there were pokemon centers everywhere and much preferred to help people. She became involved with an old berry farmer who treated her as his own daughter and helped him keep track of his fields for about three years before the old man died and his son inherited the farm. The son thanked her greatly for bringing happiness to his father's life for the last three years, but declined her help as he was fully capable of running the farm by himself. Jai was sad to leave the place that had been her home but realized that other people needed her help too. At any rate, the night the old man had died, before she was even aware of his death, she had been visited by Jirachi and congratulated on granting the man's wish to have someone to spend his old age with when his only child was away in another region. She joined the religion that night and took it to heart. Since his son had no wish for her to grant, she went to Nimbasa City and opened up her advice service near the Ferris Wheel. There was one young man with flaming red hair that always looked troubled and frequently sought her advice about his business matters, and eventually asked her to move to Castalia City where he would pay her living expenses as long as she agreed to be his consultant whenever he wanted. Sensing another father-figure that needed help, Jai eagerly agreed and moved as soon as she could. The living quarters were perhaps a bit simpler than she had gotten used to growing up but still better than the cramped quarters she had lived in with the old man. The young man, Mr. Heir, came to her for advice almost every day and occasionally even sent her as his representative to important meetings, calling her his daughter once. She glowed a little bit inside, wondering if this was what it was like to have a real family, and even once asked him about adopting her although he said her family name was useful and he needed her to keep it. He had fits of temper, of course, and occasionally yelled at her and even slapped her when her advice didn't turn out to be so good, but he always apologized the next day and she forgave him without a second thought. If she could give him better advice, maybe he could reach his goal of having a business that did everything better than everyone else and she could be helpful enough that he would accept her as his daughter forever and really adopt her so he could be her real daddy.

Name: Emir Jernigan
Affiliation: Swords of Justice (Keldeo), Merrow Heir
Gender: Male
Age: 20
Personality: Emir was originally a pretty nice kid, sharing his toys, helping his teachers, and trying to be a good citizen. Even as a teenager he tried his hardest to be a good person. However, the boy he once was has been covered by thick mental armor and he is now cynical, decisive, and unrelenting. He works tirelessly and mostly alone to rebuild the world in the shape he sees that it needs to be, a world that is fair to all. His number one rule is to trust no one and expect betrayal because he views the world as being fundamentally corrupted and wrong.
Appearance: Emir has short brown hair that he keeps cropped to about an inch of length. His eyes are also brown and he wears glasses, and he generally dresses in shorts and a shirt as the most practical options available to him. He weights rather a bit more than he would like - 270lbs - but he knows that a good portion of that weight is from his height of 6' and the muscle from his training with his sword. For the most part he is on the mildly unattractive side of completely unremarkable.
History: Emir frequently got into scuffles on the playground as a child because he couldn't let a bully get away. Every time that he witnessed an incident of bullying, he tried to fight off the bully. The first few times this happened, the bully went to the teacher and Emir was punished for starting fights. He protested that he hadn't been the one to start them and was not believed, and caught the teacher saying once that she didn't believe him because the bully was the one to report to her first. The next time he defended a little girl after the bully made her cry and then immediately ran to the teacher to report it, thinking that she would surely believe him this time. However, by this time the teacher had already decided that Emir was the bad kid in her group and assumed his guilt anyways. Emir went home in tears again that day to the disappointment of his father and mother, who wondered what they had done wrong to raise such a violent child. They worked hard to teach Emir to solve conflicts through diplomacy and not to fight back even if he was attacked under the false belief that they could prevent the violent outbreaks in their only son. Emir tried to do what they asked and when he spotted a case of bullying the first day of middle school, he stood between the bully and his victim like a rock and refused to move as the bully brutally beat him and shoved him in a locker. A few girls witnessed this and started spreading rumors that Emir was a weakling and a pussy. Emir was let out of the locker by a janitor and rebuked for being late to class despite the bruises on his face and the blood coming from his nose, and only reluctantly allowed to the nurses office. His parents saw the new injuries and assumed that he'd gotten into another fight, grounding him. It was around this time that Emir became the youngest follower of Keldeo. He worked hard to master the art of water-bending, although he refused to use actual blades and opted instead to merely train with long pieces of blunt metal.
Now that Emir was labeled school-wide as a pushover, he became a bully magnet. The little boy he'd rescued was nice to him for a little bit but soon realized that hanging out with Emir put him in the path of the bullies as well and quietly took his leave, knowing that while Emir's body might have been capable of withstanding the constant beatings, his couldn't. Emir felt a small satisfaction that at least the bullies weren't attacking anyone else anymore and took to hiding out in the library when he could, using the computers to join an internet forum for a game he came to enjoy. He grew in status there through hard work assisting new players and assimilating them into the game, helping design new perks and deciding who in the community deserved them. Eventually he was elevated to mod status and poured 40 hours per week into his games. His parents encouraged him to play the game since it was nonviolent and it kept him inside and away from other people, and also because they were simply exhausted from dealing with the school so frequently over his "delinquent behavior." He began settling disputes in his online community and finding what he thought were perfectly good compromises - there was a quote somewhere that he liked: "a good compromise leaves both parties unsatisfied." He worked hard to arbitrate with absolute fairness, not realizing that his tendency to leave both sides unhappy was causing growing resentment in the community until the day it exploded.
The chatroom that day was a mess of anger, curse words, and a wide variety of extremely creative insults. His personal inbox had a surprising and devastating number of death threats, conveniently hidden behind proxies so that he couldn't track down their original senders and give them a behavioral warning. Only when the mod team voted 3 votes to 6 to depose him did he realize the full gravity of the situation. Stripped of his modhood for reasons beyond his comprehension, he lay in his bed and cried. When he finally came back to his computer, he noticed one message in his inbox that wasn't a death threat. It was a letter from some person saying that he respected Emir's management skills and wanted to meet him in person for a job interview in Castalia City. His parents were more than willing to let him go, and he met Merrow Heir two weeks after the day he lost his modship. Merrow had initially intended to eat the teen since he had noticed Emir's capacity for quickly assessing sides in a conflict and thought that with Emir's insticts combined with the people-sense Merrow had inherited from some psychologist would prove useful in managing his company. However, he quickly realized that Emir was a disciple and instead opted to make him an offer the teen couldn't refuse. "Work for me and I will help you achieve the justice you desire." Emir accepted and took to heart the fact that the only way he could get people to change their evil and misguided ways was to subdue them and make them listen to him until they understood their wrongs. He figured that once that understanding had been reached, there would be one more truly good person in this world and the selfish people that hurt him and abandoned him would slowly become the minority and eventually vanish altogether. Mr Heir allowed him room to train and informed him any time that there was a severe miscarriage of justice, allowing Emir to grow more powerful and work towards a better world. Sometimes his orders made Emir uncomfortable, but he became more comfortable as other disciples from other legendaries joined to unite under Mr Heir's cause. Anyways, he couldn't help but respect the man who helped him and more importantly helped him perpetuate justice across all the regions.
